Design System Designer (Mid/Sen)

We are looking for someone with an eye for systems, rigor in detail, and the ability to think about the experience, usability, and interaction of each component. We are a Portuguese software house, specialized in digital products for the banking sector. We value collaboration, autonomy, and trust. Our Design System is white-label, serves multiple brands, and is in production. The challenge is twofold: to evolve the system so that it serves the teams building the company's products even better, and to structure it to be consumed not only by humans, but also by LLMs—making it context for AI agents in design and development workflows.

• Conceive, iterate, and document DS components and patterns, ensuring they work well across different brands and product contexts.

• Evolve the architecture of semantic and brand tokens for scalable multi-brand theming.

• Document the DS in a structured and adoption-oriented way—decision rationale, usage guidelines, accessibility, and governance—readable by both teams and LLMs.

• Create clear handoffs per feature—flows, states, and responsive behavior.

• Improve the design-to-dev workflow with Figma Dev Mode, Figma MCP, and Claude.

• Audit adoption, identify detaches and overrides, and transform signals into concrete improvements.

• Review implemented features, validating consistency, usability, and accessibility.

• Participate in DS governance: triage, contributions, and backlog prioritization with the Lead.

• 3 to 6 years of experience in UX/UI or Product Design, with at least 2 years focused on design systems.

• Portfolio with real DS work—creation of components, patterns, and documentation.

• Advanced mastery of Figma: variants, properties (boolean, instance swap, text), slots, variables, and extended collections for multi-mode theming, and use of internal or third-party plugins that streamline DS work.

• Experience with Figma Dev Mode and a clear understanding of developer handoff.

• Solid understanding of design tokens (primitives → semantic → component).

• Experience with Figma MCP and use of Claude (or other LLMs) in the design workflow.

• Direct collaboration with frontend developers; ability to clarify constraints with backend when necessary.

• Mastery of accessibility and responsive design applied to components.

• Organized profile, detail-oriented, with autonomy to execute and discernment to know when to involve the Lead.

• Experience with white-label or multi-brand DS will be an advantage.

• Familiarity with Storybook, ZeroHeight, or equivalents will be an advantage.
