Requirements
What we're looking for
The first three are co-equal and non-negotiable - the core of the profile is the intersection of UX × Front-End × AI.
- UX/UI: solid product design craft - interaction design, flows, and patterns.
- Frontend: sufficient knowledge to reason about component architecture, read and review code (Vue 3
preferred), ensure Figma ↔ code parity, and dialogue as a peer with developers. Technical leadership level;
autonomous development in production is not expected.
- AI-assisted design - proven and with depth: demonstrable experience (portfolio or concrete cases) on
designing and conducting end-to-end AI-assisted design and implementation workflows - tool orchestration,
prompt/context engineering, integration via MCP - and mature judgment on AI output
both sides (design and code). Real practice, not occasional use; pragmatism, not evangelism.
- Systems thinking and fluency in the Design System: use the Design System and its tokens well and anticipate the
impact of a design decision across multiple products.
- Product thinking: framing the right problems and linking design decisions to business results and
user value, not just executing requests.
- Creation (0→1): demonstrated ability to shape new products and features from ambiguous context -
discovery, hypothesis definition, and vision.
- Evolution: growing existing products iteratively, prioritizing by impact and deciding based on
data and feedback.
- Experience in people management: 1:1s, feedback, career development, and performance management.
- Change leadership: having led an existing team through a change of method or
tools without breaking ongoing delivery.
- Facilitation of workshops and group dynamics.
- Autonomy to make technical design decisions and defend them with clear reasoning.
- Communication with distinct audiences: designers, developers, project management, and business stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience in digital banking, fintech, or regulated products.
- Experience building or evolving a Design System at a system level (not just consumption).
- Familiarity with code ↔ design bridging tooling (Code Connect, Style Dictionary, Tokens Studio) or automated
token pipelines.
- A track record of having designed or evolved a design process/method - not just following one.
- Fluent Portuguese (Portugal); professional English.
Pay & benefits
What you'll get
· 100% remote work with flexibility and autonomy.
· Experienced, united functional team with a voice in the product.
· Challenging projects with real impact in an evolving sector.
· Relaxed environment, no politics, focused on delivering value.
· A culture of mutual aid, continuous improvement, and respect for people's time.
The role
The Team Lead - UX/UI ensures that the design team delivers with quality and coherence in a working mode
assisted by AI, without acceleration costing rigor, consistency, or compliance. It combines four dimensions:
- Design leadership at the intersection of UX × Frontend: sustaining the quality bar both in design and in its
product-level implementation, and rigorously judging the output - of design and of frontend - that AI-assisted
workflows produce.
- Driving the transition to AI-assisted design: bringing own and deep AI practice to operate and
deepen internal workflows, orchestrate the team's AI tools, and maintain human judgment
as a differentiator in every phase.
- Product vision: contributing to the creation and evolution of products - framing the right problems and linking
design to business results and user value.
- Team management and development: leading designers through method changes, developing
people and maintaining a culture of high-bar critique.
What you'll do
- Sustaining the quality bar on the team's design output - flows, screens, and journeys - rejecting what
looks polished but is subtly wrong.
- Reviewing the front-end implementation of features produced by the team (including AI-generated output), ensuring
that it faithfully executes the intended design and is technically sound.
- Arbitrating design and interaction decisions within the team's product scope, escalating to the Design System
Lead everything that touches the Design System architecture or governance.
- Ensuring the correct and consistent adoption of the Design System by the team and forwarding component
needs and gaps to the Design System Lead.
- Ensuring that team designs meet regulatory requirements at the experience level, in coordination with
the Design System Lead - who ensures compliance at the component and system level.
- Operating the internal AI-assisted design methodology on a day-to-day basis (after onboarding) and identifying where
workflows fail in real projects, closing the gap.
- Orchestrating the team's AI tools (integrated assistants, MCP for Figma, and documentation), with
pragmatism - knowing when to apply and when not to.
- Deepening and documenting workflows that integrate AI reliably, instead of ad hoc use.
- Leading the UX/Design team: objectives, performance monitoring, and professional development.
- Conducting regular 1:1s, providing continuous feedback, and managing the identity anxiety that the transition to AI provokes.
- Managing capacity, balancing reactive work (project deliveries) and proactive work (method and
system evolution).
- Participating in the recruitment and onboarding of new members.
- Facilitating discovery, framing, and validation sessions and workshops, including articulation with the
Functional Analysis side in joint sessions.
- Acting as an interface with front-end developers, analysts, and project managers, and managing the relationship with banking
stakeholders.
- Documenting decisions, rationale, and usage guidelines.
Tools and Ecosystem
- Design: Figma (components, variables, prototyping)
- Frontend: Vue 3 (reading and reviewing; autonomous development is not expected)
- Management: Asana (backlog) and Notion (project documentation)
- AI: Claude, integrated into the team's workflows (Claude Projects, MCP for Figma and Notion) and the
internal Lumen methodology
- Versioning: Git (DS and product repositories)
