Cookie Policy

1. What this policy covers

Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. Browsers also offer similar storage (local storage and session storage) that works in the same way. This policy explains which of these PortugalJobs.io uses, why, and how you can control them. For how we handle personal data generally, see the Privacy Policy.

2. Storage for features you use

These items are needed for features you use or choices you make, so they do not require your consent. None of them is used to track you.

  • cookie_consent (local storage): remembers your cookie choice so we do not ask again.
  • spainjobs_saved_jobs (local storage): the jobs you save, written only when you save one.
  • spainjobs_needs_visa, spainjobs_visa_intent and spainjobs_preferred_visa (local storage): your answer to the visa question and the visa filter you last used, so we do not ask again.
  • spainjobs_visitor_country (session storage): the two-letter country you are browsing from, used to put your country first in the visa question, cleared when you close the tab.
  • Session storage that remembers your place in a list of jobs and short-lived display choices, cleared when you close the tab.

3. Analytics

With your consent

If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_<ID>, which recognise your browser across visits and expire after two years. Microsoft Clarity, which loads only if you accept, sets _clck (one year) and _clsk (one day) to group your page views into sessions for heatmaps and session replays.

Before you choose, or if you decline

Google Analytics still loads, in a mode that sets no cookies and writes nothing to your device. It sends measurement signals, such as the page viewed and browser details, which Google uses for aggregated, modelled reports. Microsoft Clarity does not load. Advertising features are always switched off.

Search measurement

sj_search_attribution (session storage, 30 minutes) remembers which search result you opened and where it ranked, so our analytics can measure whether search finds the right jobs. It holds no identifier.

4. Third-party content

Embedded Maps

Some job pages can show the employer's office on a Google map. If you have accepted cookies, the map loads with the page; otherwise it loads only when you choose "Show map", and only for that map. Google may then set its own cookies, as described in Google's privacy policy.

When you follow a link to apply for a job, you leave PortugalJobs.io. The employer's or recruitment platform's own cookie policy then applies.

5. Managing your choices

You can accept or reject analytics cookies in the banner, and change your choice at any time using Cookie Settings in the site footer. Rejecting stops analytics cookies being set or read; to delete any already set, clear this site's cookies in your browser. Your browser settings also let you block or delete cookies and site storage; blocking the storage in section 2 stops features such as saved jobs from working.
