The role

At NOS, we believe that technology has the power to transform lives. That is why we offer state-of-the-art solutions in television, internet, voice, and data for all market segments - and we also lead film distribution and exhibition, being the exhibitor with the most complexes and screens in Portugal. We are a company that is not satisfied with the present: we question, we evolve, and we always seek to do more and better.

And we do all this with awareness of the role we play - towards our customers, towards the country, and towards the planet. Because we believe that true success is measured not only by the results we achieve, but by the way we achieve them and by the positive impact we leave behind.

We operate highly critical infrastructures - datacenters, core data, core voice, core IP, aggregation networks, mobile network controllers, fixed access nodes (FTTH/HFC), and mobile access - where availability is essential.
We believe in the power of technology to respond to environmental and social challenges and we want to leave a positive mark in everything we do.

What you'll do

  • Ensure that the physical infrastructures supporting NOS's critical services (energy, cooling, and security) operate with maximum availability, efficiency, and security, leveraging advanced monitoring, data, and automation
  • Energy and HVAC engineering
    • Specify, analyze, and validate energy solutions (400V AC, -48V DC, UPS, generator sets, rectifiers, batteries) and their respective distribution for technical rooms and datacenters.
    • Define and validate HVAC/climatization solutions for critical environments, ensuring redundancy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Active security systems
    • Specify fire detection/extinction systems, leak detection, access control, CCTV, and environmental monitoring.
    • Ensure the integration of these systems with NOS monitoring platforms (DCIM/BMS/SCADA) and other network systems.
  • Intelligent exploration and advanced control
    • Explore and configure advanced functionalities of systems and controllers (operating modes, algorithms, setpoints, internal logics).
    • Fine-tune control parameters and strategies to maximize energy efficiency, performance, and availability, while minimizing operational cost.
  • Monitoring, performance, and capacity
    • Use DCIM/BMS/SCADA platforms to monitor energy, cooling, and security, as well as to manage capacity.
    • Define, track, and report relevant KPIs (availability, energy efficiency, PUE, alarming, operating costs).
    • Identify capacity risks and constraints, proposing optimization plans.
  • Research and vendor management
    • Prepare technical requirements and tender specifications, including monitoring, control, and efficiency requirements.
    • Evaluate technical proposals, support decisions, and follow up on testing and commissioning, ensuring compliance with NOS requirements.
  • Digitization, automation, and analytics
    • Specify or support the development of dashboards, automated reports, and intelligent alerts for engineering and operations teams.
    • Explore data (logs, alarm histories, consumption/load/temperature time series, controller states) to detect patterns, anomalies, and improvement opportunities.
    • Contribute to process automation (scripts, API integrations, workflows) and the evolution of operations towards "smarter" models.
