Requirements
What we're looking for
- Master's degree in Law, Political Science, Food Engineering, or an equivalent field.
- Between 3 and 5 years of relevant experience in Public Affairs, Government Relations, Advocacy, Business Associations, Public Institutions, or the food sector.
- Solid knowledge of the food sector, its regulatory challenges, opportunities, and trends.
- In-depth knowledge of Portuguese and European institutions, political decision-making processes, and best practices in influence and institutional relationship management.
- Proven experience in government relations, advocacy, and external stakeholder management.
- Excellent project management skills and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and priorities.
- Strong communication, influence, and negotiation skills, with ease in adapting messages to different internal and external audiences.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English, both oral and written.
- Ability to quickly analyze complex contexts, anticipate impacts, and identify strategic opportunities for the business.

The role
As Public Affairs Manager, you will be responsible for representing Nestlé's interests to policymakers, government institutions, industry associations, NGOs, and other relevant stakeholders in Portugal and the European Union. You will play a fundamental role in defining and implementing the Public Affairs strategy, ensuring strategic advice to the business, promoting the defense of the company's positions on regulatory matters, and contributing to strengthening Nestlé's reputation with key stakeholders.
What you'll do
- Develop and maintain solid relationships with policymakers, public authorities, business associations, and other relevant stakeholders in Portugal and at the level of European institutions.
- Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments, assessing their impact on the business and ensuring timely communication to internal teams.
- Identify priority Public Affairs themes and coordinate, in collaboration with different areas of the organization, the definition and communication of Nestlé's positions.
- Lead advocacy initiatives and promote coordinated action among the company's different functions and business units.
- Represent Nestlé in conferences, debates, working groups, roundtables, and other external forums, acting as an ambassador for the organization.
- Collaborate closely with Cooperative and Business teams to ensure strategic and operational alignment.
- Support the implementation of the ESG Advocacy & Partnerships strategy within the organization and reinforce Nestlé's leadership position in relevant industry associations.
- Support the effective preparation and management of potential crisis situations.
- Support the Corporate Affairs Director in strategic projects and assume representation responsibilities whenever necessary.
