The role

Learning Coach, TUMO Setúbal

TUMO Portugal is expanding and we will open a decentralized TUMO center - TUMO Setúbal 4x4 - on a smaller scale (up to 150 students in total across the three weekly shifts). We intend to hire a team of two Learning Coaches. These will be responsible for supporting students as they progress through TUMO's self-learning activities and for supporting the Center Manager in the management of the Center. The Learning Coach will primarily have the opportunity to inspire and guide young people aged 12 to 18 and share their passion for learning in technologies and arts.

Based on the established pedagogical model, the Learning Coaches will work directly with TUMO Setúbal students to:

What you'll do

  • Support the performance of Self-Learning activities, being present in the space to clarify doubts and motivate;

  • Monitor student attendance and provide feedback on their development, taking measures to motivate and inspire young people;

  • Provide support in workshops given by specialists in various learning areas;

  • Welcome students and their families, clarifying doubts, and supporting the enrollment and entry process into TUMO;

  • Supervise check-in/out processes;

  • Provide management support for all necessary tasks during operating hours.

How you'll work

  • Workplace: Avenida Luísa Todi - TUMO Setúbal 4x4

  • Work Regime: The Learning Coaches team works in shifts, for 10 months of the year (October to June), with expected school breaks at Christmas and Easter;

  • Schedules: TUMO Setúbal schedules take place on Wednesdays and Fridays from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM;

  • Initial training: to perform this role, there will be approximately 100 hours of training during the month of October, at times to be agreed upon.

ABOUT YOU

  • A genuine liking for working with young people aged 12 to 18, creating relationships of trust and knowing how to establish boundaries in a close, firm, and positive way;

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen, give feedback, manage different profiles, and adapt communication to each student;

  • The ability to accompany and guide students intentionally, identifying needs, difficulties, and development opportunities and knowing when to intervene and when to give space for the student to find their own way;

  • Autonomy, initiative, and a sense of responsibility, not being afraid to make decisions, solve problems, and adapt to new situations;

  • Curiosity and ease with technology, feeling comfortable exploring new tools, platforms, and digital resources;

  • The ability to work in a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment, collaborating with different members of the educational team and contributing to a consistent experience for students;

  • Attention to detail and organizational skills, particularly in monitoring information and student progress and in using TUMO management tools;

  • Good oral and written expression skills, in Portuguese and English (eliminatory factor);

  • Professional experience or volunteering in the area of education, youth, facilitation, or youth mentoring will be valued;

  • Availability to work in person at the TUMO Setúbal center during the three shifts proposed below.

About the company & team

Shaken Not Stirred implements and operates educational projects in Portugal and Spain. It was the team that brought 42 and TUMO to Portugal, and works with municipalities, foundations, and institutional partners to bring free training in technology and arts to young people, regardless of their socioeconomic context.

The TUMO Center for Creative Technologies is our largest program: free, for young people between the ages of 12 and 18, where they define their own learning path in areas such as robotics, programming, graphic design, cinema, music, or animation. In Portugal, we have already opened in Coimbra, Lisbon, and Porto, and we will open in Setúbal in November, in a decentralized format, on a smaller scale and built with local partners.

Students combine the learning objectives of TUMO (Robotics, Photography, Game Development, Graphic Design, Cinema, Programming, Music, Animation, Generative Artificial Intelligence, and 3D Modeling) in their learning plans, which are adaptable to their progress and preferences. Soft skills such as teamwork, initiative, and empathy are incorporated, along with technical knowledge of the area.

We are looking for people who are dynamic, curious, responsible, and highly motivated to work with young people, who identify with a student-centered educational approach and have the desire to be part of an innovative, challenging, and impactful project.

As a Learning Coach, you will be a close presence for students throughout their journey at TUMO. More than transmitting knowledge, your role will be to accompany, guide, motivate, and create the conditions so that each young person develops autonomy, confidence, and the ability to learn on their own.

We are looking for people who have:
