What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or an equivalent field (mandatory).
+ 3 years of professional experience in data engineering, with proven experience in Azure technologies.
A consolidated track record in the design, implementation, and management of complex data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and integration solutions.
Advanced knowledge in data modeling, dimensional design, and data warehousing using SQL, NoSQL, and columnar databases.
Hands-on experience in Azure Data Factory, Synapse (dedicated and serverless), and Azure Data Lake Storage.
Advanced SQL skills for complex transformations, optimization, and performance tuning.
Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies, including the implementation of CI/CD via Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
Practical knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
Solid understanding of best practices in data governance, data quality, and security (RBAC, encryption, GDPR).
Strong leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to mentor engineers and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Nice to have

Advanced certifications in data engineering or related disciplines (e.g., Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, AWS Certified Big Data - Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate - DP-203, or Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate - DP-600) are valued.
Proficiency in Python and PySpark for scalable data processing; additional experience in Java or Scala will be valued.
Experience with Microsoft Fabric and Cognite Data Fusion (CDF) will be valued.
Proficiency in the English language.

The role

Randstad Digital is recruiting a Data Engineer for direct integration into a multinational company, with offices in Porto.

Hybrid Work Regime (3 days on-site + 2 days remote, per week)

What you'll do

key responsibilities

Participate in the design, development, and implementation of scalable data engineering solutions within the Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
Design and maintain efficient data pipelines and integration processes using Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and Azure Data Lake Storage.
Develop, test, and implement ETL/ELT workflows in SQL and PySpark, ensuring data quality, consistency, and performance.
Collaborate with data architects, data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to define data requirements and deliver high-quality solutions aligned with governance and modeling standards.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines and architectures with a view toward scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and regulatory standards throughout the entire data lifecycle.
Maintain clear technical documentation and promote reusable frameworks, automation, and best practices.
Support junior engineers and cultivate a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
