Requirements

Nice to have

  • Experience in Sales Development or another goal-oriented commercial role with a strong telephone component.

  • Experience in fintech or in selling payment solutions will be an advantage.

  • Experience with a CRM.

The role

Hello. We're Teya.

Teya was founded on a simple belief: local businesses deserve better.

They are the cafés, restaurants, salons, shops and entrepreneurs that bring character to our high streets, create jobs and keep communities moving. Yet for too long, financial services has made life harder for them - with clunky tools, poor support and complexity that gets in the way of running a business.

Teya exists to change that.

We're building a financial platform for local businesses across Europe - one built around simple tools, thoughtful design and real human support. Our Members rely on us to help them run their business with confidence, and that responsibility shapes the way we work.

We move fast. We care about quality. We stay close to the detail. And we believe great performance and genuine hospitality should go hand in hand.

If you want to build meaningful products, solve real problems and make a genuine difference for local businesses, we'd love to hear from you

What you'll do

  • Work a prioritized queue of classified leads based on profile and intent, making the first contact mainly by phone and using email and social media as a complement.

  • Qualify each lead based on a clear set of criteria: does this business have the right profile and is this the right time to talk?

  • Schedule qualified merchants directly into a Field Sales salesperson's calendar, at least 48 hours in advance, and ensure the meeting takes place through a confirmation and a reminder the day before.

  • Flag leads that demonstrate potential but need to be contacted at a more appropriate time.

  • Close leads that do not have the right profile, recording a clear and honest reason.

  • Keep the CRM organized: accurate records, clear notes, and updated statuses. The next person in the process depends on the information you record.

Sales Development Representative (SDR)

You will be the first point of contact between Teya and potential merchants. Your role will be to identify and qualify potential customers, initiate relevant conversations, and transform prospecting into real business opportunities for our Field Sales team.

About the role

The SDR is on the front line of the commercial operation; leads arrive to you already identified, handled, and classified, allowing you to concentrate your time on what truly matters: creating good conversations, understanding needs, and identifying opportunities with potential.

You will work a prioritized list of leads and perform the first contact primarily by phone, complementing the approach through email and social media. Your role involves quickly perceiving if there is a fit between the potential customer and the solution, assessing their level of interest, and identifying if they are ready to move forward to a commercial conversation.

Your responsibility follows the entire process until the meeting is scheduled. The closing of the sale is the responsibility of the salesperson, but you continue to be co-responsible for the opportunities you generated and passed to the team. Your work does not end when the meeting is booked: you follow up on the quality of the opportunities you create, ensuring that each qualified lead is properly associated with your contribution and the impact you generated in the commercial process.

What you will bring

  • Comfort on the phone and the ability to have a close and useful conversation with a business owner who was not expecting your call.

  • Ability to listen more than present, perceiving the difference between a real opportunity and a simple "maybe".

  • Organization and consistency: you work the list, perform follow-ups within deadlines, and keep your records updated.

  • Ability to handle a "no" naturally and maintain constant energy throughout a full day of calls.

  • Ease in using a CRM and modern sales tools, or the ability to learn new tools quickly.

  • Fluency in Portuguese.

What success means

  • Qualified meetings scheduled and, more importantly, meetings held and recognized by the salesperson as relevant opportunities.

  • Quality of qualification: the opportunities you pass to the team transform into real commercial conversations, and not into meetings without potential.

  • A consistent and reliable flow of well-qualified leads, week after week.

Why join Teya

The SDR role is where great salespeople are formed. You will learn the market, the product, and the art of qualification from day one, maintaining recognition for your contribution in every business you help initiate.

Top-performing SDRs have the opportunity to evolve into Field Sales roles, progressively taking on more responsibility in the commercial process.

The operation is designed to help you succeed. Leads arrive already identified, enriched, and classified, allowing your effort to be directed toward the conversations that truly matter, instead of wasting time searching for data.

You will have a clear qualification framework, modern tools, and a team that measures your work by the quality of the opportunities you create, and not just by the volume of contacts made.

Teya is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or background can thrive and do their best work. We believe that a diverse team leads to better ideas, stronger outcomes, and a more supportive workplace for all.

If you require any reasonable adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process whether for interviews, assessments, or other parts of the application-we encourage you to let us know. We are committed to ensuring that every candidate has a fair and accessible experience with us.
