What we're looking for

What we value:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a similar field

- 5 or more years of experience in software, data, or machine learning engineering, of which at least 2 are in AI projects

- Advanced proficiency in Python and the data/ML ecosystem (pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch, or similar)

- Proven experience in developing applications with LLMs: prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, function calling / agents

- Experience with cloud AI services, preferably Azure (Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Search, Azure ML)

- Good knowledge of SQL and data modeling

- Experience in API development and service integration (REST, authentication, containers/Docker)

- Knowledge of MLOps/LLMOps practices, Git, and CI/CD

- Ability to evaluate AI solutions with objective metrics (quality, latency, cost, risk)

- Experience with document intelligence / OCR and unstructured document processing.

What is it like to be an AI Engineer?

Being an AI Engineer means being part of the Analytics & AI Lab team at NiW (Salvador Caetano Group) and being responsible for designing, building, and deploying Artificial Intelligence solutions with real business impact — from machine learning models to applications based on LLMs, RAG, and agents.

It means taking on a technical reference role within the team: defining architecture and best practices, ensuring the quality, security, and governance of AI solutions, and supporting the growth of more junior profiles.

What you'll do

Main Responsibilities

- Identify AI use cases alongside business areas and translate them into viable technical solutions, with value and effort estimates

- Design and implement solutions based on LLMs (RAG, agents, information extraction, classification, summarization) on Azure OpenAI / Azure AI Foundry and other models

- Develop and deploy machine learning models (forecasting, classification, anomaly detection) integrated with organizational data

- Build robust data and AI pipelines, integrated with SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse/OneLake), and internal APIs

- Expose AI models and services through APIs (e.g., FastAPI) and integrate them into applications, Power BI, and business processes

- Implement MLOps/LLMOps practices: versioning, CI/CD, monitoring, continuous evaluation, cost management, and prompt management

- Ensure security, privacy, and compliance (GDPR, AI Act), including guardrails, access control, and traceability

- Define reference architecture and AI development standards for the team and document them

- Provide technical mentoring, code reviews, and knowledge sharing, contributing to the data-driven and AI culture within the organization.
