We are looking for a Technical Architect for our Architecture & Developer Platforms team at MC Digital and we believe we will be #betterwithyou!

At MC, technology is everywhere: in stores, in e-commerce, in the supply chain, and in the apps that millions of Portuguese people use every day. Behind this, many development teams build in parallel and make technical decisions all the time. Your role is to ensure that all of them build upon the same technical foundations: solid, secure, and easy to use.

In the central Architecture team, you will define the corporate Tech Stack and decide which technologies enter (and leave) our ecosystem. You will design the reference architectures that teams use on a daily basis and transform best practices into automatic guardrails and ready-to-use templates, so that the right path is also the easiest one. This is not "drawer architecture": your work will be in the code, in the pipelines, and in the platform that supports all of MC Digital, including the way teams build software with AI.

We are counting on you to...

• Define and evolve the corporate Tech Stack and the Tech Radar, managing the lifecycle of technologies, frameworks, and tools (adopt, trial, hold, retire)
• Evaluate new technologies through proofs of concept and benchmarks, and document decisions in ADRs
• Create, publish, and maintain technical guidelines, reference architectures (Cloud-Native, event-driven, Mobile, etc.), and best practices for development teams
• Build and maintain templates and reference components (service templates, Helm charts, pipelines) that materialize standards and accelerate teams
• Ensure that guidelines are followed, whenever possible through automatic mechanisms (policy-as-code, fitness functions, quality gates in CI/CD)
• Work with Platform Engineering on the evolution of technological fundamentals: Kubernetes, observability, CI/CD, and developer experience
• Support teams and Technical Solution Leads in the most complex technical decisions: integrations, performance, scalability, resilience, and security
• Perform technical design reviews, identify technical debt and risks, and propose concrete remediation plans
• Work with Security and Cloud to ensure Security by Design and cost efficiency (FinOps) in solutions and the platform
• Evaluate AI tools and practices applied to software development and define technical guidelines for their secure use
• Promote a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing through training, tech talks, and communities of practice
