Company History
Renault was founded in 1899 by Louis Renault and his brothers Marcel and Fernand in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. The company quickly became one of France's leading automobile manufacturers, and after nationalization in 1945, it grew into a global automotive group. In 1999, Renault acquired a controlling stake in the Romanian carmaker Dacia, and in 2017 it formed the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance.
