Software Engineer - Optical Networks

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance software components using Modern C++.
• Contribute to the design and evolution of software solutions for networking and systems applications.
• Develop robust, scalable, and maintainable software that meets demanding performance and reliability requirements.
• Work on multi-threaded and distributed systems challenges.
• Participate in code reviews, testing activities, and engineering best practices to ensure software quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Systems Engineering, Product Management, and global R&D organizations.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software issues across different layers of the system.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and adoption of modern development tools and methodologies.
• Share knowledge and collaborate with teammates in a culture of learning, innovation, and technical excellence.

Required

• Experience developing software using C++ (academic, internship, or professional experience will be considered).
• Good understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Experience or familiarity with Linux-based development environments.
• Knowledge of multi-threading, concurrency concepts, or distributed systems.
• Familiarity with STL and modern software development practices.
• Experience using version control systems such as Git.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in international teams.
• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

Preferred

• Professional experience with Modern C++ (C++11/14/17/20).
• Experience with Boost libraries.
• Familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and software quality practices.
• Experience in telecommunications, networking, or optical transport technologies.
• Knowledge of Optical Networks, DWDM, Layer 0/1 technologies, ROADM, WSS, or related domains.
• Experience with distributed, embedded, or real-time systems.
• Knowledge of Python, Bash, or other scripting languages for automation.
• Exposure to cloud-native technologies, containerization, or DevOps practices.
• Experience leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, or contributing to software architecture.
