The role

Purpose

  • As Global Category Manager for Facilities, you are responsible for defining and delivering the global procurement strategy for Facilities related spend, covering both CAPEX and OPEX requirements across SBM's office footprint. You leverage market expertise and supplier relationships to generate value, mitigate risk, and support business growth, while partnering with internal stakeholders to enhance employee experience, operational efficiency and sustainability outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and execute the Facilities category strategy, translating business, site and regional requirements into a prioritized sourcing and supplier management roadmap.
  • Lead and guide Indirect Buyers supporting the category, ensuring sourcing initiatives are aligned with stakeholder needs, global procurement objectives and governance.
  • Partner with Real Estate, Workplace, Health, Safety, Security, Sustainability, Finance, Legal and site management teams to define requirements, service models, specifications and sourcing priorities.
  • Conduct market intelligence and benchmarking on facilities management models, labor and material cost drivers, indexation mechanisms, service innovation, sustainability practices and regional supplier capabilities.
  • Define the appropriate commercial and sourcing model for each requirement, including but no limited to bundled versus unbundled services, self-delivery versus subcontracting, open vs closed books and performance-based commercial models.
  • Lead sourcing and contracting activities, including supplier qualification, tender strategy, bid evaluation, supplier recommendation, negotiation, contracting and implementation planning.
  • Define and deliver a category strategy based on TCO principles, leveraging Preferred Supplier Lists, framework agreements, spend analytics, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure facilities suppliers meet applicable legal, regulatory, health and safety, security, environmental, ethical and internal compliance requirements, in collaboration with the relevant subject matter experts.
  • Establish and manage Facilities supplier governance, including service-level agreements, key performance indicators, business reviews, improvement plans, innovation roadmaps and escalation mechanisms.
  • Support stakeholders in managing supplier performance issues, service disruptions, disputes, claims, renegotiations, contract transitions and exit plans, protecting business continuity and operational resilience.
  • Identify and manage category risks and opportunities, including supplier dependency, subcontractor exposure, labor availability, inflation and indexation, energy volatility, critical asset failure and site-specific constraints.
  • Drive value beyond savings through demand management, specification optimization, supplier consolidation, standardization, sustainability and workplace service improvements.
  • Promote the use of framework agreements, preferred suppliers, compliant buying channels and accurate spend visibility across sites and regions.
  • Capture and share lessons learned, market insights and best practices across Facilities sourcing initiatives to improve consistency, scalability and procurement performance.
  • Define and report category-specific performance indicators aligned with the Global Procurement Strategy, including savings, cost avoidance, compliance, supplier performance, risk, sustainability and stakeholder satisfaction.

Education

  • Master's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.

Experience

  • Strong Previous experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, or Supply Chain, with a focus on Office Facilities.
  • Proven track record in developing and executing category strategies that deliver measurable value in cost, quality, risk mitigation, sustainability, or innovation.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders across business functions and act as a trusted advisor on procurement strategy, commercial models, and supplier management.
  • Advanced negotiation skills with experience leading complex, multi-year contract negotiations, including framework agreements and enterprise-wide deals.
  • Expertise in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), supplier segmentation, vendor risk assessment
  • Strong business acumen and deep understanding of sourcing levers, market dynamics, and supplier ecosystems relevant to your category.
  • Solid experience in contract lifecycle management, supplier performance governance, and resolution of disputes or escalations.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project leadership skills with the ability to translate business needs into strategic procurement plans.
